Read Jane K Fernandes' Letter

Gallaudet Provost Jane K. Fernandes wrote the letter to Donald Tropp, the Editor-in-Chief of Buff and Blue newspaper after he apparently wrote the article criticizing the University Administration for not doing something effectively with the fiasco related to Gallaudet Homecoming Ball and Goalpost Incident.

I'll post my own comments right after you read Fernie's letter.

November 11, 2005

Mr. Donald Tropp, Editor-in-Chief
Buff and Blue
Ely Center

Dear Mr. Tropp:

Thank you for your thoughtful expression of concerns in your recent letter to me. I believe that continuing communication about the recent incidents and their impact on the campus community is very important, that real listening to one another will help us to work together to achieve some positive results from these very serious and troubling incidents.

I understand completely that students were frustrated by DPS officers’ lack of Sign Language and the lack of interpreters during the goalpost incident, and I agree that the University must continue to work on addressing audism, racism, and other forms of oppression both on campus and off campus. These issues are very real and definitely underline our need to continue our efforst to address them, but they are not “the real issues” of this incident as you assert. Instead, the core issue is that frustration and confusion do not justify breaking the law by destroying property and pulling false fire alarms. You agree that there was no excuse for the students’ behavior, but later in your letter, you seem to excuse it base on the lack of communication among DPS staff members and the University’s overall response to the incident. It cannot be both ways. The students were engaging in unlawful and inexcusable behavior. Problems with the response occurred after this fact of breaking the law.

The very same night of the goalpost incident, I interviewed football players who led the students in tearing them down. Each player that I spoke with indicated the motivation was a desire to celebrate the football’s team record. Not one of them at any time hinted that audism was a cause for their actions. At the heart of the football players’ behavior was a desire to applaud themselves then and there, rather than allow a sense of accomplishment to develop among their fans. IF the players had given the fans [who include members of the faculty, staff administration, parents and alumni, by the way] time to think about how to mark the team’s outstanding season, you can be sure that an enjoyable, safe and appropriate celebration would have taken place-not the regrettable one that transpired.

You noted that CREs, DPS, and MPD were not the right groups to respond effectively to Sunday’s events. It seems to me that CREs were the logical first responders to an incident on campus, involving students, and occurring late at night. They are no equivalent to a David Duke since CREs can communicate effectively and-in the best interest of all students, including those directly involved-they tried to bring the situation under control. Only when students did not listen to and respect them, and began to destroy property, did DPS take the next logical action of calling in law enforcement to restore order. I am sure this is not the course of action DPS wanted to take, but given the escalating circumstances despite effective communications from CREs, they felt they had no other choice.

Perhaps, as you say, the University should have been prepared for the possibility of another attempt to tear down the goalpost after Saturday’s failed attempt. On the other hand, shouldn’t students be trusted and given the benefit of doubt that, with some distance from Saturday night’s revelry, they would think better of committing acts of violence on their own campus? IN regard to the Homecoming incident, are we to blame that on the hotel staff’s lack of ability to sign or the guest inability to do so?

I do agree that the University can improve on how we respond to disorderly incidents and attempted crimes. As leader of the Crisis Management Team, I will work with this group to create more effective policies and procedures for responding to such unfortunate incidents. Most important, I, along with other administrators, am committed to creating and implementing specific action plans to address issues of audism, racism, improving communication access for all people on campus, and promoting the goals, behaviors and attitudes of an inclusive deaf university.

I hope you and other students will join this effort as collaborators working with us towards goals I believe we all want: access, respect, inclusion, and a strong Gallaudet University.

Sincerely,
Jane K. Fernandes
Provost

Talk is cheap, Fernie! DPS has not implemented anything to speed up the use of sign language on its campus, the world's only Liberal Arts University for the Deaf. It is always hilarious to watch Fernie trying to act like she is so busy doing something but know what? She never did a thing. She changed the names of dormitories where the students were killed, changed the security's name tags from Department of Safety and Security (DOSS) to Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Basically, the Administration did not do a thing at all except to repair its image. Each time, they fucked up a situation, they released their PR dogs to cover, bury or clean it up.

Up next is Donald Tropp's letter to Provost!

Cheers,

Lee Trevathan In MetroWeekly's Top Ten Finalists!

My dear friend, David "Lee" Trevathan, originally from Biloxi, Mississippi -- now a student at Gallaudet and living in the District, was chosen to be the local gay magazine, MetroWeekly's Top Ten Finalists for the 2005 Coverboy of the Year. David is affectionately known as Lee by many friends. I think I am one of his friends.

Congratulations, Lee!

But the voting continues. Let's show some solidarity for a Deaf fellow by voting for David "Lee" Trevathan.

If he wins it all, he will be the first deaf person to win the MW's Coverboy of the Year -- the voting will end on Tuesday, Nov. 29th. You have two weeks to do that.

Click for David Trevathan!

Love you, Lee!

11.16.05 Tidbits

About SURFACE: In order to embarrass NBC, it is necessary to mention this to someone else. Especially by getting in touch with CNN. I agreed with Paul that we can do something about this -- how? Click on this link to tell them about this. We need to bombard them to let them know that we were offended by their repeated actions in hiring hearing ones to imitate us -- that it is newsworthy since we hadn't received a call or an email from Khalil Olmstead.

Of course, I intend to make another call tomorrow afternoon once again.

Oral Sex Causes What? Mouth Cancer, that is. But that is if you have HPV.

Tender Subjects, Is It?: My shoulders and arms are pretty sore and very stiff. I actually cannot sign above my shoulders -- that's how bad it is. Will keep up doing it. I was startled to learn that I lost 16 lbs in the last two weeks. Getting out of Gus & Jason's apartment in Norristown tremendously helped me, obviously.

In fact, if you kept on noticing that there were two pseudo-names in some comment boxes named "J.F." and "M.B." who kept on attacking me with derogatory words on my blogsite in the last few days -- they probably are none other than Joshua M. of Limerick, PA and Marb(t)y Bonales of Louisville, Kentucky or wherever he is as long as he gets to force his ex to give him the flight tickets. Some of you may remember Marb(t)y when I wrote an entry blasting him of his animalistic behavior last Memorial Day Weekend when I was in the District.

I'm so glad to get out of their hair. Staying with Gus is pretty much negative. I mean, he totally controls everything else to a pulp. Gus is pretty much a sore loser -- if you crushed his arguments, he will run to Joshua or someone else for help. It was amusing to observe how animalistic Joshua went on me after Gus ran to him for help after I trashed Gus for cheating on his partner repeatedly.

AS you can see, I lost 16 lbs in two weeks, I feel clean. I feel good. I feel free. So they resort to wage a campaign of namecallings via the comment boxes on my blogsite, how pathetic is that?! Suffice to say, I got them blocked as well.

I am entertaining no supplicants today, fools!

Update On Julie "Jules" Dalbom": Julie is now in Spadling Rehabilitation in Denver, Colorado -- I got her connected with the lawyers to sue the shit out of George Washington University Hospital for mistreating her when she was hospitalized. And she also informed me that the Metropolitan Police Department has located the person who drove the car on her and is in the process of prosecuting this person for hit and run incident. As of now, Jules appreciated the emails and cards from the blogreaders. Thanks, readers!

Rummaging Through Boxes: In the closet upstairs at my parents' house, I found a centennial book of Gallaudet's football program. I decided to scan the picture and post it for the world to see. This picture is so homoerotic. Nothing is hot than seeing a guy's hand on someone's leg!
The guy furthest right, bottom row is very hot!

Oh, this picture contains the first Gallaudet football team in 1883 -- 122 years ago, that is. Great picture, is it?

Write, Tell, Call or Kill "SURFACE"!

Don't you ever hate this stuff? Growing up, you learned by rumors that a deaf character would make an appearance on television, film and/or plays. You were excited, intrigued and curious -- only to be slapped in the face that these deaf characters were portrayed by whom?

Hearing actors/actresses.

To cast a hearing person as deaf character is akin to cast a white woman as African American male! It is akin to cast a dog for the role of a cat! The producers assumed that it is easy to pretend portray deaf characters. You do not do that with African Americans or any races. But it is OK to do that with deaf persons.

There are many Deaf actresses/actors who aspired to break in -- but there are producers do not give them an opportunity. For instance, there was a show called SURFACE on NBC-TV on Monday nights. They had a deaf character portrayed by whom? A hearing actress who cannot sign. In fact, I got 10 emails complaining that this bitch cannot sign worth a shit. In fact, one wrote: "She was unreadable and unrealistic!"

I checked some idiotic commentators on a message board run by IMDb.com by others who attempted to justify this, you may read and laugh if you want to. In fact, IMDb.com deleted all comments produced by Deaf people who protested -- the total of 7 comments were deleted, perhaps when they responded back in defense.

Laura Malloy commented, "I think you need to calm down. The actress did not appear after the show and claim to be legally deaf. It's called ACTING. People do it every day, they play characters that are sometimes the opposite of who they are."

Laura is obviously ignorant. She probably needs to buy a book by John Schuchman's Hollywood Speaks to see the ramifications that the Hollywood has done many injustices to the deaf people in general. Laura, you're an idiot.

Another commentator, Chauliodus-1 said: "
Gee when did having a disability become a "talent"? One's ethnicity, the others an impairment. The moment you see a white person or a black person you know who they are, you don't with deaf people nor do I care if this women isn't deaf.

Again, this guy obviously missed the point. This is a classic example of audism. Why do you think I loathed people like him/her?

Here is the best one, Trevor whined: "You know, I have a lot of compassion for people with disabilities. My own son has Down Syndrome, by the way. And all through college, I had a close friend who was blind, and I read his textbooks to him and walked him around campus ... Not so with hearing-normal actors playing hearing-impaired roles. So the actress's sign language was terrible. So what?"

I love when hearing persons claimed that they are supportive of disabilities then turn the table on to argue that we had no right to object that we do not like hearing people portraying us in the films and televisions. Trevor, that comment you made is bullshit. Good try but no cigar, blindness is not deafness, deafness is not down syndrome -- there is no way in Heavens or Hell that you can say that you have a compassion for this shit. Do us a favor, shut the fuck up, Trevor!

When I got these emails today, I made a phone call to Kahlil Olmstead, the so-called NBC Media twice today. I got ahold of someone who refused to identify herself/himself, instead transferred me 4 or 5 times to Kahlil's voice mailbox. What else is new? I wanted to find out more information about this subject. I also left the meesage for them to return the call or email me back to defend their turf. So far, nothing at all.

SURFACE is produced by NBC Universal Television Studio, the Executive Producers are Josh and Jonas Pate, they are ignorant twins from North Carolina. Believe it or not, the place of production is in Wilmington, North Carolina -- they could have get in touch with Gallaudet University, merely 384 miles away and do the auditions like some productions did in the past.

If you wanted to express your opinions to these folks who hired a hearing actress to portray deaf character and cannot sign worth a shit -- get in touch with Kahlil Olmstead at 818.840.3727 and/or Kahlil.olmstead@nbcuni.com.

I feel that it is necessary to email or call them in a relentless manner to make them see that what they did was very inappropriate to start with. And it is time to stop using these phony actresses to falsely portray deaf characters in films and televisions! Enough is enough.

Here is a copy of Michael Krajnak's email to Kahlil regarding the situation. Do your part as well:

Subject: Surface episode on 11/14/05

Hello,

As a Deaf person who enjoys Surface, I watch it faithfully every week. The other shows "Threshold" and "Invasion" I found them to be bit too farfetched and bit too sci fi. "Surface" is compellingly believable, authentic and mind expanding, all in all, well done kudos.

However, I was totally offended by the "deaf" female character in last night's show. Her signing was abominable and difficult to understand. The interaction between Lee and his "deaf" girlfriend was unrealistic regarding the lipreading. As an American Sign Language specialist with a degree from Gallaudet University I was saddened by the tainting of not only my world but "Surface".

I'm curious to know why this situation was portrayed in this way and why you did not choose to use a Deaf actress.

I'm looking forward to your response.

Thank you,

Michael

For once, let's kick their butts.

Tidbits for 11.14.05

Another Noble Acts By Our Own: You wonder why they wanted to kill the Americans? These things are common in the Middle East. Perhaps more than you ever think. Torture, snatch people off the streets.

What Happened When GW Bush Tried To Be Funny? This is hilarious. Check Joseph Rainmound's entry. Be sure to watch the WMV file of what Muhammad Ali reacted when GW Bush tried to joke with him. Priceless!

I'm Sure You Heard About This ...: I'm sure you heard about this female suicide bomber in Amman, Jordan on television or the Internet? She confessed on Jordan's television that her "explosive belt" did not go off as expected. I do not condone suicidal bombings at all.

But let's face the reality -- Jordan is one of few countries that refused to acknowledge the human rights. In fact, the United States routinely sent its prisoners to Egypt and Jordan so that they can torture them for the United States. You could say that the United States does not torture ... technically, but they are accomplices to the nations that tortured many people, yes, some are not innocent and many are innocent. But guess what?

I'd question the authenticity of this particular woman's confession, though.

Weird Tactic! Wonder if it will ever happen to Jeff Carlson? Check this out.

So This Begins! Dylan emailed me to warn me that there is a possibility that my favorite character, Amethyst has made a brief appearance in Infinite Comics #2 where a purple-laden woman battled The Spectre. I was bit disheartened -- The Spectre is one big nuts. He just killed the Shazam Wizard. It was said that the eradication of Magic occurs in 21st Century and only one planet far away was preserved -- that is Gemworld. Maybe something had transpired. I'm not sure -- maybe the next issue where Mordru waged a huge battle against Doctor Fate will shape the outcome of Magic itself related to Gemworld. Only time will tell. But again, again and again, the DC Comics always fucked itself up in the process from time to time. So I'll not be surprised that if Amethyst got killed, she'll be reincarnated in 20 years. Go figure.

The Workouts Begin! I have my personal trainer. Name is Barry. He's muscular hunk in his 50s. Went to get a workout today for two hours. Let's say, my upper body is destroyed. Am working on three workouts -- Mondays are for upper body workouts, Wednesdays are for back body workouts, Fridays are for lower body workouts.

Normally, I type entries in matter of minutes. It nearly takes me an hour to finish this -- that's how exhausted I am. But patience shall pay off. I'll look good in the long run. And men shall tremble before me. As always.

Tomorrow Is What? ORAL SURGERY!! God have mercy upon the planet.

UPDATE: Today turned out to be pre-oral surgery examination. The real oral surgery occurs on Tuesday, Nov. 22 -- that is the day the doctor will pull out not only one but two wisdom teeth out.

Cheers,

Conservatives Are Hypocrites

You Said Liberal Protesters Are Violent? In Fairfax, George Mason University had to cancel a lecture by Michael Moore last year after the series of compliants by conservative people including several radio hosts.

But when it is time for someone to stage a protest against the military recruiting on its campus, one person himself was Air Force veteran who served in the United States Air Force for four years between 2000 to 2004. Tariq Khan said, "A lot of things went down that I didn't believe in, a lot of what we were doing had nothing to do with protecting freedom, but the recruiters never tell you that."

For further information on this subject, you may read this.
It was his right to protest -- he did not interfere the military recruiting efforts but he reserved the right to share the truth that the military recruiters do not want you to know. Suddenly, one conservative student at George Mason attacked him. Tariq was subsequently arrested for exercising his right to protest at the school that honored a man who was all about individual rights.

Of course, you will not see Bill O'Reilly, Michele Gook Malkin, FagPatriot or conservative pigs touching on this base. They love to attack Liberals who stood up for something they believed in but when they fucked up along the route, they went dead and acted like it is not there.

That is so typical of compassionate conservative dickwads.

The Weekend In Hopewellless

American English signs? That woman, Ms. Kathryn Cleary, should be removed completely from Marie Katzenbach School for the Deaf for making up the idea that there is a language like American English. The article is decidedly biased from the start. Know why? They focused only on one person, Ms. Kathryn Cleary, to argue about what's wrong with the community.

The article was done in very lazy manner -- they did not go out and search for more information from the diverse backgrounds on the subject. Cleary said, Cleary said, Cleary said ... Barf. Double jeers to this article.

Virginia Wins: Today, Virginia Women's Basketball had an exhibition -- unlike in the last 4 years, they routed EA Sports 85-55. This is a sign of good days to come. Yeah, Virginia upsets No. 24 Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech, 27-17 in football. Way to go, Cavaliers!

Another Gallaudet fella On The List: Just keep an eye on your children if they are near this guy. I do not know why Jay Baldridge is smiling in this picture. But understand this, this is free information -- you can access this at the mpdc.dc.gov website, but by law, you are not allowed to harass, stalk or pick on this individual. You are allowed to be aware that there is a pedophile running around you.

Uncle Bert's Clubnight: Last night, I wandered around the small town of Hopewell. Saw a local bar that I never saw before. It turned out that it was recently established. I entered the premise. There is small dance floor on the right side. Lots of women were grinding against each other. About 20 men were watching them with drools on the left side. I mean, these women were grinding so hard that some crashed on the floor.

I tried to contain my laughter. I saw few women putting their hands on the floor so that their asses can be "seen" in public as they shook their behinds. I observed things in very scientifically manner, I noticed that the caucasian males were staring at African American women. These women knew these rednecks wanted their asses. Their eyes said so.

I rolled my eyes. But the caucasian men restrained because of white women who were competing against the African American women on the dance floor. It was getting silly each minute -- then I saw one caucasian guy being shoved on the dance floor by his male friends -- all African American women were rubbing him.

I burst out laughing and walked out of the bar. Such is a life in that small town.

How was your day?

B
EWARE Sorenson taking over our Deaf life! Imagine Mormons found a way to infiltrate in our lives without knocking the door! Just touch the remote control and poof, we are endorsing mormons' activities and letting them conquer our right to interpreting services in our local communities. And more importantly-- the right to choose that allows us to support our values! If we don't, SVRS will, later or sooner, bleed us to death by robbing us blind for VPing for relay and anyone. Competition is the best to keep SVRS on their fucking toes. DO NOT LET SORENSON RULE AND BRAINWASH US!

The guy who got shot [outside of Gallaudet] few weeks ago, I bet u a dime he did provoked them. He's a troublemaker, he likes to start something all the time! Don't mention me!

People who give birth to 10-20 children in the name of God because they believe the Bible tells them to "go and multiply" are religious sex rabbits. According to a source, Mormons are one of the fastest growing religions in the world. Brigham Young once told the parishoners that God told him to tell everyone to fuck and get pregnant as often as possible -- to multiply! Did he even give them instructions on sex positions to enhance conception success rate? I can envision a movie, "Invasion of the Mormons." Keep on fucking, you religious sex rabbits, and that movie shall become a reality.

To Provost Jane "Chicken Hawk" Fernandez...you need to shop for your clothes at Neiman Marcus, not JcPenny.

To all of those hearing folks who are learning sign language: it is not cool to communicate with another hearing person by talking and half-signing at the same time, even though she may or may not know sign language. Once you do that, you look stupid and your signs make no sense.
[I see this all the time at Gally]

Is Emily Muns still wandering the streets of DC? When and where was her last sighting?

Weak minds think in crowds.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, RICKY DUNCAN TAYLOR!!

Damn it, Gino Gouby! You have no idea how many guys are waiting for you to move on and be happy! We HEART you, ya sweet hottie!

Joshua's Halloween monk costume was very appropriate!

RESPECT - show me damn respect, you lowly people. If you don't give a fuck, i don't either. If you want me to give a fuck, then show the damn respect.

All these "I *heart* blah blah".... sticking finger down throat.

Pard in Atlanta needs to drop dead or be in jail -- that old geezer chases after uninfected men for his sexual conquests. It is sickening. Ever notice that his friends tend to be the ones who are irresponsible with sexual activities? Pard's friends are the ones in his age group -- one only needs to look not far from Pard's connections.

Impeach Cheney! They had no problem trying to impeach President Clint over a blowjob. Why not impeach Cheney over REAL national security issues? Too bad karma hasn't come back to Cheney yet. No wonder he had many heart attacks and danced with death one too many time. The great one will come sooner or later, and he'll croak.

For Pack, I second the motion and heart you to the moon, Pack, the moon!?!

M - do you like to share love, or do you just thrive on people bickering and bitching for entertainment?

Two words: Jeff Stone.
OMG! My penis drips!

Thank goodness Miers resigned! See, a woman had enough sensibility to resign. One of the greatest political news to happen during Bush's so-called administration.

Pack - don't hang in there. Go ahead and hang yourself.

Can you believe this? Alex Abenchuchan's girlfriend is Alexa! Anyone willing to date a guy that has the similar name probably has an issue with narcissism.

Why is men asshole?

Mordru Rules

Howard Stern & Relay Service: My good friend, Chris and I chatted online today. I told him about the evolution of relay service and its impact on Deaf Community. Chris is hearing fellow who graduated from Dartmouth College whom I loved very much. He said, "Oh, is that relay service? I once heard Howard Stern doing this to a deaf guy via the relay service! Howard made fun of this deaf guy via the relay service!" I was bit surprised by this -- is this true?

Either way, it is apparent that Howard Stern did not call directly to Trudy Suggs, Carl Denney or me -- we would make him look bad just like that. Too bad for us.

Gallaudet Volleyball Season Finished At 23-12: After posting 3-0 win over Notre Dame College of Maryland, they succumbed to No. 2 Juniata College 3-0 in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Semifinals. Juniata (33-5) advanced while Gallaudet closed the season at 23-12 under the first year of Head Coach Lynn Ray Boren. The future is bright for the volleyball team at Gallaudet.

Only God Can Save You, Pat Robertson! In Dover, Pennsylvania, the school board decided not to include "intelligent design". Pat Robertson, that Xian nut from Virginia Beach retorted: "I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city,"

A resident of Dover shot back, "If Pat decides to visit Dover, he'll need God's help."

Well said!

Steve Courson Dead: My good friend from Pittsburgh, Nanc, is going to mourn this man for days to come. Steve Courson was instrumental figure that helped Pittsburgh Steelers to win the Super Bowl twice in 1978 and 1979. Steve Courson was the first NFL player to admit that he used steroids -- suffice to say, he was let go from the NFL. He was ill with heart disease, attributed probably by his use of steroids, but he cleaned up his act -- too bad, at the age of 50, he attempted to sway his dog away from the tree that he was cutting down -- and the 44-foot tall tree ultimately killed him and injured his dog. I know you guys are snickering ... but let's be serious for a minute. Shoot, I give up. Go ahead and laugh!

Bah! We Already Had This At Gallaudet! Some would say that Carl Denney, Lance Mann, Rob Voreck, David Simmons and yes, some accused me as well. Gallaudet has its shares of students who stayed in college for decades. I do not think Johnny Lechner is any different from these that were accused at Gallaudet.

WWBT 12 NBC ~ Jefferson Pilot Company Sucks! I emailed the persons to question them whether if they had hired a deaf person -- no, hard of hearing persons do NOT count at all! -- that used ASL as a primary language. Then I made few calls, they kept on transferring me to different persons until I got stuck with what? Voice mail messages.

Trust me, fellas, they are discriminating Deaf people. The local TV stations, wherever they are, they do not hire a deaf person. They won't! They claimed that they do not discriminate. But they kept on transferring the phone calls so many times that I counted more than 10 different persons ... I could not get ahold of anyone else who is responsible for a certain department that hires anything else, really. Let's face the music -- the hearing people do not want you! They do not want you to do their jobs. They only want you to do the menial jobs and shut up!! If you mention that you're Deaf, they quickly transfer you to someone else ... and you end up being stranded wtih some god-damned voice mails.

This calls what? Vengeance, of course.

Does The CIA Has Right To Do This? The CIA has no right to snatch anyone else from some country and transport an accused one to a country that actively supported the use of torture. This indicated that the CIA has no respect for Italian authorities or its laws, the CIA is one of many Americanism arrogances at its best. Now the Italian Authorities are issuing the extradition of several CIA officers -- do you truly think the CIA will respect its demands? No, never will. The CIA thinks they can barge in any country and snatch people out of their homes without proof of their guilty or innocence and claim that it is for the national security. What a hogwash tactic. Shame on CIA.

Yes ... I Know! The pictures you are seeing is from JSA #78 and #79 -- you can click on each image to see it up close. What happened is that Mordru managed to get himself free from his prison inside the Rock of Eternity. After attacking the Shazam Wizard, he went on to kick JSA's butts. But in the process, he was blasted from behind by someone else. That someone else is none other than the apparition using Dr. Fate's artifacts to challenge Mordru. One has to find out what happened next in JSA #80. Cool panels, is it?

But the whole concept is how I feel when I deal with fucking hearies out there. Mordru wants his own way to do whatever he wished -- so do I!

Cheers,

Madonna, Elton John, Enrique Iglesias & More

Why Guy Ritchie? According to this, Madonna said seeing Guy Ritchie's chest was the major reason why she is now with her husband of some years. I tried to google the internet for a photo of Guy Ritchie's chest. No luck. Anyone else has that luck? At least, I saw Ben Moore's sexy chest.

Payback Is Bitch! 13 months ago, Elton John engaged in a foul-mouthed tirade on Madonna after she was chosen as Best Live Act on some music awards. last night, Madonna made fun of Elton John's fake hairpiece on ITV1.

That Is So Cute, Enrique! I do not care much for Enrique Iglesias. I personally thought he is just another pretty boy. Until I came across this article -- I thought it was brave of him to talk about this -- I like men who has average or small dicks. I noticed that men with big cocks tend to be arrogant and cocky, but when it is time to play, they often perform badly. I feel they are so limited in their own manner. I preferred guys who improvise with what they have on their bodies. I noticed that these guys who has average or small dicks tend to overcompensate their performances in bed.

Do Not Fuck With Gays! Or you can get killed. And the gay victims may never get charged at all. Lucas Dawson of Philadelphia was charged with manslaughter after he killed a gay basher who atacked him in Philadelphia few days ago. The judge threw out the manslaughter charge because what Lucas did was based on self-defense. Good. This sends a message to gay bashers, you can die for nothing.

Just Got JSA #78 & #79 Finally, I get to read Mordru's rampage after being freed from the Rock of Eternity. But some strange things occur in the last page of JSA #79, Mordru was blasted from behind as he turned only to see an apparition-like occupying the helmet and artifacts of Doctor Fate. The message at the end of the page reads: "Read for the shocking conclusion to Fate's struggles with Mordru." I suspect Mordru is going to be the rightful owner of Doctor Fate -- or kill Nabu in the process before being displaced in the future where he is to menace the Legion of Super-Heroes in another book. Only time will tell.

Ahh!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Aww, Cute Puppy! Bizarre but yet so cute! I'm sure this dog is going to be expensive of four puppies.

Vote for Lee Trevathan! Once again, the Metro Weekly (MW) is doing its fifth annual thing on its website: To select the Nightlife Coverboy of the Year. Please vote for a certain friend of ours, David T. -- also known as Lee Trevathan. Lee is Deaf and well known in many circles. Either way, let's support him just because he's Deaf. I'm sick of hearing men winning the Coverboy of the Year each year.

Remember Representative Don Sherwood? The Conservative pig who also cheated on his wife for many years was busted by DC Metropolitan Police last year in September, 2004 when the woman complained to the cops that Don Sherwood was beating up on her. AS of now, Don Sherwood is paying her to keep things quiet. Typical conservative pig. Don claimed that he's for family values and he cheated on his wife -- It is sad that there are people like Don Sherwood who used the family values to attack others but he does not practice it as well.

What About DeafSurvivors? You know, when I learned that McWeenie set up a blog called "DeafSurvivors", I actually grinned. McWeenie wrote, "This is a blog dedicated to help deaf and hard of hearing people find each other and provide emergency info after catastrophic events such as Hurricane Katrina." -- I was skeptical by his claims to be genuine. Know why?

Because I was certain that it was short-lived. He was just hyped with Katrina's aftermath. He does not follow up on anything else after Katrina. He does not cover the recent tornado incident in Evansville, floods in New England states or even the massive earthquake in Pakistan, Afghanistan and India (I'm sure many Deafies are there!) ... the blog basically died on its own because he is not covering anything else other than Katrina & Rita.

And I was right after all. Wanna wage a bet that McWeenie will update an article or two in the next 24 to 48 hours just to refute what I said? His last posting on that DeafSurvivors was on October 18, it was about to sign up on its frappr! map in order to identify where you are. That's it. Pathetic, is it?

Bruce Heffernan Can Do Me Anyday! I always laughed each time I read this. The way he talked about it is so funny. The Onion rocks!

Last Night At BARCODE: I went to a gay bar in Downtown Richmond to celebrate my birthday with my two sisters and Darren Schledt. He looks good as usual. I had a good time at the bar. Shortly, I recognized Sean Lewis, a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter on WWBT 12 in Richmond, with another guy in the bar, apparently, he came in to pick a young fellow and departed with him. I wonder if he is out at his workplace -- especially with the fact that the state of Virginia is conservative with laws that permitted the companies to fire gays.

Know what? Some people would be pissed off if I outed him -- I really do not care. I knew of many Deaf persons trying to get a job at these local TV stations ... they routinely get dismissed without getting a chance to work in a place like this. My sole experience in television field is the non-profit organization at PBS. But for companies that are not "non-profit", I never had an experience. You do not know how MANY times I applied for a job position with the local news stations all over the country. No luck.

Why? Because when they see "deaf" on my resume, they discretely removed the resume into the trash bin, and they will claim that my experiences were not "sufficient" -- actually, they prevented me from getting that in the first place. They blatantly discriminated me and many others who wanted to work in the local news stations for years. I feel that they probably felt threatened by the fact that we can do the job -- so they kept us at bay for years. And you wonder why Gallaudet University has dropped the Television field to major in, it is because no hearie company would hire anyone who is Deaf -- yes, you can say that my first degree was completely useless. I'm being forced to find work associated with Deaf peers.

Why do you think many Deaf people worked at deaf schools, government services, deaf non-profit organizations? It is because they had no choice -- the hearing peers simply do not want us.

So do I care if Sean Lewis is being OUTed? No, not really.

UVa To Play Richmond: On December 18, 2005, Virginia Cavaliers will play Richmond Spiders at Robins Center. Know what it means? I will personally haul my parents to the game just because I wanted them to see why I loved the Cavaliers. I know my mother would whine about it but guess what?

I'll still badger, beg, whine and even pull her to the game so that she can attend her first-ever collegiate basketball game. I do not think my parents has ever done such a thing in their lives. Since they are retired, why not make their lives more interesting by coming to a game like that? I'm sure they'll enjoy it eventually.

I look forward to that day, I know it will be a hassle to convince my parents just to enjoy ONE game but it will be worth the time and energy.

Birthday Boy: Did you know that I turned 32 today? My parents also got married on November 9 ... 43 years ago. Mom told me on the way to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday and their anniversary -- she said that I was the easiest one to bore out of six siblings. I was eager to get out of her womb. She said Dad drove to the hospital pretty so fast. In fact, she said that she was supposed to be placed in the delivery room which is downstairs but they decided to move her in a room on the first floor because my head was already sticking out. And voila, I was delivered just like that. She described the whole scene to me even if I do not want to know but she just wanted me to know. It was interesting.

Oh, yeah, had a good dinner with my parents and all that.

Happy 43rd, Mom & Dad. Thanks for the dinner. Love you both, even if you're crazy. Sorry if I drive you nuts as well. But that s life, right?

Cheers,

The Aftermath of Virginia Governor Race

Since I'm in Virginia, I get an opportunity to observe the race for Virginia's Governor. Democrat Tim Kaine ultimately won the election over Republican Jerry Kilgore, 52% to 46%. This is one of the costliest election ever in the state of Virginia, both spent millions of dollars in order to win the election.

This sends a virtual message to the ordinary citizens of Virginia -- you cannot be Governor unless you have money. People in trailer parks cannot run for this position. An urban guy in Jackson Ward cannot run for this position. Rural residents in Big Stone Gap can not run for this position. As you can see this, only well-to-do families can apply. This means what? The democracy that we had preserved for the last 200 years is in shambles. It does not work. Why do you think we have many disillusioned citizens who did not vote?

According to the census information on its website, Virginia has 7,459,827 residents as of 2004. Only 1,976,813 voted in this election. 24.6% of the state population is under 18, I am not good with statistics. Subtract the current population with 24.6%, you still have about 5 million left to vote. But Only less than 2 million voted.

In order to make democracy work, each person should have a fair competition. But these days, you only need to outspend the money in order to beat the others. Never mind the fact that your messages are better than this person, if this person has money, you will lose. Period.

However, with Tim Kaine winning the state election, I'm relieved in a way because Tim Kaine is supportive of keeping my alma mater in one place even though his comments do not make a huge impact on the idiots in the state's Department of Education. And one place is none other than Staunton!

By preventing Jerry Kilgore from winning the election, the state also sent the message to neo-cons that they have had enough of their antics. The conservatives pigs had been so intent on destroying Tim Kaine's integrity throughout the election by bombarding the advertisements on televisions, radios and mail campaigns to the voters. I find it appalling. Kaine was intent on delivering the message of what he wants to do for the state, the conservatives attempted to derail about his faith, his personal issues et al.

And to say that the Xian conservatives are to be the most compassionate of all? Please. They are vicious. Malicious. Evil. But the greatest problem is that they do not see themselves as evil, they see themselves as doing something good for their faith.

I think the brighter days are coming along, for the state of Virginia. In time, with better educational system for all, Virginians will get to expel these wackos to the state hospitals or church wards for all I care.

It is interesting to note that the most rural areas or towns that has been hijacked by neocons voted for Kilgore, but the cities with large numbers of educated persons with major universities tend to vote for Kaine.

Let's examine the counties of Virginia:

Rockingham County: The county itself is very rural, Xian-oriented -- 65% voted for Kilgore. But its major town, Harrisonburg, is also home to James Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University, has 50% for Kaine!

Augusta County: This is the county that I practically grew up in. Staunton and Waynesboro are two incorporated towns within Augusta County. The county, like Rockingham, is very Xian-oriented with plenty scores of uneducated folks lying in the countryside. 66% voted for Kilgore, while Staunton had Kaine winning at 49%.

Roanoke County: This county is close to Lynchburg, home of that Xian scumbag, Rev. Jerry Falwell. Not surprising, the county has 52% for Kilgore but the city of Roanoke overwhelmingly voted for Kaine at 61%.

Wise County: This county is by the border of Kentucky in the Appalachian Mountains where my father was born and raised in. The county overwhelmingly voted for Kilgore at 61%.

Campbell County: This is interesting -- this is the county where the infamous Rev. Jerry Falwell resided in Lynchburg. As predicted, the county favored for Kilgore at 61% but the city of Lynchburg probably pissed Rev. Jerry Falwell as it pulled for Kaine at 50% to Kilgore's 46%.

Albermarle County: The home of Charlottesville, the University of Virginia and Monticello! Of course, the liberalism and higher educated folks of the town and county were in favor of Kaine by large margins. Both the county and city, as expected, destroyed Kilgore's chances.

Richmond, Chesterfield and Henrico: The Richmond Metropolitan Area is divided into 2/3, really. Chesterfield, home to plenty of conservatives pigs who does not like to change things as is, was for Kilgore with 53%. But Richmond and Henrico County overwhelmingly in favor of Kaine with 76% and 53%.

What About NOVA?: Fairfax and Alexandria Counties and the city of Arlington picked Kaine in a rout, 60%, 74% and 71%.

Virginia Beach?: Home to the conservative pig, Pat Robertson -- won for Kilgore 49%.

As you can see the pattern after each county/city -- the cities with better education, schools and et al tend to vote for Tim Kaine. What's left of Virginia in its countryside went for Jerry Kilgore. In other words, educated people voted for Kaine, uneducated people voted for Kilgore. Conservatives often reigns with people who are misguided on everything else.

On another note about voting machines in Virginia, this is alarming but worth the time to check out. We need a paper trail in order to prevent the corruptions. The point is that these new computers does not have a paper trail for us to follow up on the recounts. Most of the voting machines are owned by companies that donated heavily to the pro-Republican organizations. Despite the fact that the Democrats won the state, the whole point is that there is a possible corruption coming out of voting machines if there is *no* paper trail to follow up in the long run. Use your common sense.

Good riddance, Republicans.

About Time The Post Tackled This! It is about time that The Washington Post finally had an article on Crystal Meth and its impact on gay people in the District. Again, the picture should depict the worst side of Crystal Meth, they chose the pretty boy to do the trick. Think it will discourage gay men from using Crystal Meth? Hat tip to Christian for the link.

No, It Was Not Meth Lab! Apparently, cats did this.

Double Standards! It is full of shit. In Minneapolis, the Minnesota Vikings football players were exposed by its local news that they engaged in a massive orgy on a boat. What did the NFL do about it? They did not suspend the players, they merely investigated. The cops did not arrest the folks that were involved on the boat. Blah, blah. But in Tampa, two NFL cheerleaders engaged one-on-one fuck in the woman's bathroom at a bar, caused the long wait for others patrons to use the bathroom -- making other patrons pissed off and engaged in physical fight. Result is what? The Carolina Panthers cheerleaders were subsequently arrested for assault, sex in public place and they were swiftly removed from the cheerleading squad. You do not see that with men, but you do see that in women. For further information on the whole drama thing, click this. Hat tip to PJ.

6 Soldiers Charged with Rape: So much for our noble men in the Armed Forces -- what a Sempfer Fi!

Oral Surgery: Today, went to see the dentist to get the answers about my teeth. The dentist confirmed that I did not floss enough. That is entirely true. I really hated to floss -- because when I try to use the floss, I always did it too hard to a point where my gums bled. So fuck it.

The main reason why I went to see the dentist is because at the end of my left tooth, there is some kind of pain on my gum -- it turns out that the tiny wisdom was colliding against the muscle in the back. And the Dentist said that this required the oral surgery to remove this tooth. The appointment is November 15th at 10 AM. I guess after that, I'll be able to kiss well from now on.

Know what I look forward to? Painkillers. That is what gets me going. The painkillers always made me dream so well to a point where I imagine what it is like to rule the universe and so on.

Mainly, the dentist said that they'll have to extract my left, lower wisdom teeth so that the muscle can be "free" to press on that spot. If I eat chicken or steak, it often found its way to that particular tooth where it gets stuck between the muscle and tooth -- result is that it drives me nuts.

Oh, yes, that is the picture of my teeth.

Sonny No More Xanga! Now my good friend, Sonny Wasilowski of Macon, Georgia has decided to set up his blogsite dedicated to deaf-related activism which I think is excellent thing to do in the long run. Look for his link on your right side.

Definitely Morbid: In Brisbane, Australia, men will do anything, really.

Remember Caleb? Remember the mysterious guy in the basement in a show called Desperate Housewives whose we learned that his name is Caleb? The actor, Page Kennedy, was fired for "improper conduct". I'm curious about this one.

For The First Time ...: A victim killed a gay basher. Good for him! About time if you ask me. I never heard of an incident where a gay guy gets to defend themselves to a point where others died in gay bashing incident.

Gallaudet Volleyball In NCAAs: No. 4 Gallaudet will square off against No. 5 Notre Dame (MD) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. If they win this game, they advance to the second round versus No. 1 Juniata College. Congrats to the ladies -- good luck! For the information, go to this.

Am heading out to BarCode tonight to celebrate someone's birthday. That guy will be 32 tomorrow. Go figure.

Tidbits for Monday the 7th

Instead of NFL Players ...: You get to see two Carolina Panthers cheerleaders doing the job in some bar's bathroom in Tampa. Someone called them "LWOD" -- Lesbian While On Drunk.

Brokeback Mountain For Oscars?: Even Madonna said that the film was shocking and brave. And now the Academy Awards are saying that the film may go all the way to win the Best Picture just to rub in redstaters' faces. I say go for it!

Few Words For Someone: For your information, the New York Times and many big cities newspapers did not lose the readerships due to the inaccuracies that they made -- it is because people has shifted their attention onto the Internet where they can access the media for free. It is not all about you as you wish it to be.

For Banjo: People continues to fail in understanding the issues surrounding the District of Columbia. Unlike many cities, the District cannot expand its boundary line to keep up with the population growth. The city eventually grew so large that the majority of the District is now considered as an urban setting. And the crime rate, of course, is misleading at times. Banjo, get off from the computer and TV and visit the District. Don't rely on your friends for information. It indicated that you're speculating things as it is.

District has its flaws, but guess what? In my ten years of living in the District, not a day has passed that I even got robbed or ambushed. Know why? Because I have common sense to use the means to go out as can be. I don't cower just because the city is so bad. So lame, so coward and so stupid. I even went out to 7-11 at 4 AM with my friends. How terrible is that?! Well, there are always 5 police cars next to 7-11 store most of the times, so there!

Statistics are misleading, m'dear. If you include the population outside of the District with the city itself, the crime rate would plummet just like that. Washington, DC is not the perfect city but it has one of the nation's best Deaf Communities -- way better than yours, Banjo, anyday -- which is why you're always glued on to your TV screen or computer monitor all the time.

Subject: Update on Recent Incidents
Date: Mon, 7 Nov 2005 12:05:26 -0500

The purpose of this email is to update you on the University's response to the recent incidents involving student conduct.

GoalPost Incident
Thirty students have been charged by the University with disorderly conduct and destruction of University property. These charges will be handled through the Judicial Affairs Office and sanctions willbe issued to each student found responsible. During the goalpost incident, several false fire alarms were pulled. The
University offered a $300 reward for information leading to the identification of the perpetrators. As a result, two students, and possibly a third, will be charged with pulling a false fire alarm.

At this time, no one has been expelled or suspended. As stated in the Student Handbook, students found responsible for any violation(s) of the student Code of Conduct may receive sanctions ranging from a disciplinary reprimand to expulsion from the University, depending on the severity of the violation(s).

The University continues to aggressively investigate the entire unfortunate incident. More charges are pending the results of our investigation.

Hyatt Regency
We continue to investigate the embarassing events that took place during Gallaudet University's Homecoming on October 22 at the Hyatt Regency. The Student Body Government hosted the event at the hotel. To their credit, they are taking it very seriously and are meeting with hotel representatives to resolve issues. The Student Body Government is also expected to make charges against students through Judicial Affairs for various infractions that occurred that evening.

There is a town hall meeting at 2:00 pm today in the Foster Auditorium to discuss these events. I hope you will attend.

Jane K. Fernandes

Provost
Gallaudet University

Much ado about nothing, really.

To Mary With Love: To deny a child from playing in any sport at her school for a year just cause you can as a mother is ridiculous and childish thing to do. And you know it, darling.

Tanya Is Retard: My sister in law, Tanya, is one massive douchebag. She is control freak -- she forbade my nephew from playing in any sports, extracurricular activities, or even spending a night at his friends' houses -- or even play at the city park! At the age of 9, boys will be boys.

The best part is that when I attempt to make a suggestion to my older brother, he snapped that I am fag and that I should not say anything about Danny because I just want him to be gay. What the fuck? Billy, that is why you're stuck with your wife -- you're purely an idiot to start with. Danny is going to be reclusive, anti-social and will end up like the infamous guys in Jeffrey Dahmer, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. I felt sorry for the kid. That kid is not even allowed just to be a boy.

Tanya, you are stupid. Had been, has been and always will be. Your eyes reminded me of a fish that died in my mom's aquarium when I was a kid -- bloated, ugly and ... smelly. That is what you are!

I'm afraid to predict that the way things are going, my nephew may be the world's first redneck who is metrosexual someday!

Gallaudet Volleyball, 112-2 and Cave Spring

Gallaudet Did It Again: After the football team attained its unthinkable goal of going undefeated at 8-0, the Volleyball team cruised throughout the CAC Tournament to win the Championship and an automatic berth to NCAA Tournament, beating Marymount University 3-1. For further information on this game, you can read here.

In Oklahoma: A high school basketball team massacred another team, 112-2. One Coach said that it was one of the embarrassing games that he ever had coached -- in spite that he was the one on the winning side. Interesting, though.

Laurent vs. Cave Spring: I have nothing against Laurent being built in middle of nowhere in South Dakota. A friend of mine, Sonny mentioned about this on his blogsite which I agreed completely. We do not have to do this from scratch -- there is a town that already has resources which we can pick up and build from there.

That town is none other than Cave Spring, Georgia. That town has only 975 residents as of 2000. Roughly 90 out of 975 are Deaf residents. Cave Spring is also the site of Georgia School for the Deaf.

The resources for Deaf people to pick up is already there for anyone to pick up. Georgia School for the Deaf has two campuses, one is closed -- one is open. But the one that is closed is owned by the city of Cave Spring. Suppose if the residents of Laurent come to Cave Spring instead of building from scratch in some bitter cold Midwest, it would be so easy to replace the town with the majority of Deaf residents.

The town has the bank, restaurants, bed and breakfast inns ... all you need to do is to come in and make yourselves home. Improve the school, add few deaf-owned businesses and boom, you have it. that town also is home to the spring that floated from the mountain into the 1.5 acre pool that shaped like the state of Georgia. I swam in that pool. That pool is going to make your penis disappear or your breasts decrease -- so cold.

Yes, I had been to Cave Spring -- in fact, I stayed in that town for 4 days. Time flew so fast when I was there for my close friend's wedding. It is located about an hour and half south from Chattanooga, Tennessee and 2 hours north of Atlanta. Why do we need to build from scratch at Laurent, South Dakota while we can pick this town up just like that?

For further information on Cave Spring, Georgia, check this link.

You Suck, Dana White!

Here is a theory of mine. The Ultimate Fighting Championship was spearheaded into popularity because of Dana White. No, it was not female. It was male with female name. Maybe he was beaten up in elementary and middle schools to a point where he was determined to make something out of this.

Oh, did I mention that Dana White also was a ballet dancer?

Only in America.

Stuff To Ponder on Friday Night!

My Allergy Flared Up: Last night on the road, I sensed that my allergies flared up. When I get to a certain place, my allergies exploded like Mount Vesuvius, overwhelming Pompeii. It was not funny thing to deal with. My allergies often flared up during the autumn season, when the climate changed from the summer to the winter, I'd have a long period of unstoppable sneezing.

Straight Guys Do Bareback, Too: Good thing Sundiata Bashir is in the jail. Will you ever see McWeenie talk about this "phenomena"? Unlikely, of course.

*sharpening my knives*: The sounds you heard is correct. It is reserved for certain few. Guys and gals, how do you feel for a guy who consistently cheated on his partner each time his partner went out of town? What is your feeling on this subject? As for me, I do not feel comfortable being friends with this particular guy who consistently cheated on his partner. I reserved the right to discard this person out of my life, I mean ... if he cheats on one, it means he can cheat or lie on me as well. so in other words, I rather to discard him in the trash bin, right? He said that I am being judgemental and that I should butt out. I am not getting involved but I do not have to tolerate his antics toward others! Do I make any sense?

Coach Admits He Is Illiterate: But still coached the team to win the Stanley Cup in 1993. Interesting article.

Guess Who?

Nice To Know ...: My previous entry was mentioned and linked on Slate.com's Executive Assistant Zuzanna Kobrzynski called Whither Turd Blossom? Of course I was surprised and thrilled. It is nice to know that someone at Slate.com do read my entries.

Rumor Has Been Confirmed: Gallaudet Board of Trustees Chairman since 1994, Dr. Glenn Anderson, is considering becoming a candidate to be the President of Gallaudet University.

12 Students May Have Been Expelled: It was rumored that among 12 Gallaudet students has been expelled, including the best basketball player, three-time All-CAC First Team Robert Haney.

Kristen Suiter Involved?BisonTV has fourth show popping up on BisonTV, notice something different? Anchorwoman, Kristen Suiter is not there. She may be part of Gallaudet Fiasco. Anyone has details?

Article by Alex Abenchuchan & Trevor Breenan: Here is the detailed article.
DOWN THEY GO!
by Alexander Abenchuchan and Trevor Brennan

On Saturday evening, the first night after the Gallaudet football team won their final match by an overwhelming score, 51 to nothing, campus spirit and fervor was high. Talk among students was that the goalposts were slated to be replaced next year, so some thought it a great idea to tear down the goalposts, so Gallaudetians could do something that many other universities routinely do. Several attempts later, the goalposts were intact, due largely to the presence of DPS.

Crazed fans refused to accept this as defeat. Pages and emails spread like wildfire Sunday night, prompting students to gather and rip down the goalposts late that night. At 11 p.m. Sunday, a group of students swarmed Hotchkiss Field and rocked the north goalpost. DPS arrived on the scene, clearing the field. At approximately 11:30, students made a second attempt to bring down the goalposts, but this time around, DPS and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), were present on the field. The police used batons and riot control gear to clear the field and the immediate area. Students were then told to return to their dorms, and while many did, others were more vigilant, staying outside.

The north goalpost was damaged, one of the legs bent. At 12:30 a.m., Monday morning, a fire alarm went off at Krug Hall, and freshmen emerged from the dorm and merged with a group of students already present at Benson Hall Circle. Rumors spread that there would be another attempt to rush Hotchkiss Field at 2 a.m. After yet another failed attempt to break down the north goalpost, fire alarms went off at Clerc and Benson Hall, amassing a very large student presence; an air of tension and fervor became evident. DPS presence was no longer there, as many of them had to attend to the fire alarms. With only Travis Imel, CRE of Ballard North, guarding the north goalpost, students again flocked to the north goalpost, deaf to Imel's calls for them to stop, and wrapped themselves on the goalposts. As more and more students clung to the goalposts, they began to look like toothpicks as they were torn down, lying on the field. Cheering and raucous students jumped around on the field, hugging each other, giving each other high-fives, and eventually returned to Benson Hall Circle.

At about 1 a.m., members of the MPD arrived in an attempt to contain the situation. At 1:39, an ambulance and fire truck arrived on scene, after a student complained of being hit in the head by police and feeling sick. After things began to calm down, DC police started to leave. Students chose that moment to rush the field again, pulling down the south goalpost. As the goalpost fell, things finally began to calm down. Students had achieved what they wanted. For Gallaudet's administrators, however, the night had just begun. President I King Jordan and Provost Jane Fernandes were awakened and rushed to the campus, where they interviewed several students. The aftermath included two uprooted goalposts, five dorm alarms, injured students, stressed-out staff, and a public relations nightmare.

Dr. I King Jordan, after surveying the scene, had this to say: "I was appalled to see that students had pulled down the goal posts. Worse, when I met with the students in the early hours of Monday morning, none of them seemed to think anything was wrong with their behavior. When riotous fans at other colleges and universities behave like this, the football team is quick to criticize the behavior and to distance themselves from it. Here at Gallaudet, many of the football players were actively involved and supportive. It was a very dangerous thing to do that showed a complete lack of respect for the property and well being of others."

A large number of the students who tore down the goalposts were football players, and their victorious season was overlooked by their actions according to the Provost. "I was proud of the football team, their undefeated record – but I'm not proud of what happened [Sunday night]. My view is that [Sunday night] ruined their perfect season; my respect for the team is gone. I'm all for fun and celebration, but this was dangerous and out of control. Students have been killed during activities like the ones that occurred last night," Fernandes said. "This is disrespectful, unacceptable behavior."

Not only were the top two administrative figures appalled, but Carl Pramuk, Dean of Student Affairs, also had a hard time believing what had happened. "We don't condone that behavior, nor does the NCAA. Just because this happens in other colleges and universities … doesn't mean we can [tear down goalposts], too. Those kinds of celebrations [can result] in injury and death. It is also a federal offense to pull fire alarms. I can't see justification to support student celebrations that violate federal law, University policy, and NCAA guidelines. The sad part is that instead of focusing on the accomplishments of the team, focus is now on [Sunday night]'s incidents," Pramuk attested. What staff view as an embarrassing night, many students view as one of the best nights of their lives, and a sense of pride is evident among them. "I feel inspired," said freshman Gabriel Green, a linebacker, who was detained by DPS police after being one of the first to rush the goalposts. DPS handcuffed him, with his hands behind him, despite many protests from the crowd to handcuff him in front so he could continue to communicate. Green also commented that no rights were read to him after he was bound.

"I wasn't there, but how Gallaudet fans tore down the goalposts – it felt good to see that, and I'm happy that nobody got hurt. We are 8-0 after all, why not do something crazy?" asked an anonymous running back.

Several football players, who wished not to be identified out of fear of reprisals, also said they felt a sense of pride in their accomplishment of not only going undefeated, but also tearing down the goalposts. Freshman Hinda Kasher missed the whole eventful night due to a trip to New York. She arrived at Gallaudet at 4 a.m. and upon finding out what happened, she regretted missing the evening. "I'm mad that I missed this. I heard it was one of the best experiences of a lifetime. I'm disappointed because I wanted to be a part of Gallaudet history," said Kasher.

Sophomore Jamie Gaona, Jr., did not participate in the tearing down of the goalposts, but watched it unfold instead. He was inspired. "When I first saw the goalpost being torn down, I saw a symbol, because Gallaudet has [a losing record], they have always sucked, but I saw a barrier being broken. This shows that we have gained respect from other colleges, and they can't laugh or say shit about us anymore. The new goalpost will show that we have moved up and are ready for Division III football."

Not all the students shared that opinion. Graduate student Micah Brown found the situation to be embarrassing. "I'm very embarrassed about the goalpost incident. This is not the impression I wanted Gallaudet to have. Those responsible should be expelled from the University," stated Brown.

Many students were angry at DPS. They felt that DPS's reaction was unwarranted, and that excessive force was used. In addition, there was no interpreter provided for communications between students and police. "Not calling the GIS interpreters was an oversight on our part," admits DPS Chief Meloyde Batten-Mickens. "We had no idea what was going on at first on Sunday. All we knew was that Gallaudet property was being destroyed, and we needed to provide safety for the students. It was only later that we were informed of the reasons for students wanting to tear down the goalposts." DPS strongly feels that their response was warranted. "MPD was called in to assist us in controlling the situation. We had no clear idea what was going on initially, and we felt that we might need the assistance," says Captain Ron Tate, on duty Sunday night. "We thought that Saturday night was an isolated incident, and were not expecting another attempt on Sunday," he added. Chief Batten-Mickens promised improvements for future situations: "We plan to improve communication between DPS and the student body in order to prevent something like this from happening again. We would be more then happy to provide security if the students wanted to have a party in the middle of the field to celebrate. I applaud our team and their accomplishment, but that does not mean that they can destroy Gallaudet property," maintains Batten-Mickens.

Late Monday afternoon, an emergency meeting was held involving the CREs, Provost Fernandes, Dean Pramuk, and other top school officials. Following the meeting, the Provost sent out a campus wide email, expressing her disappointment in behavior of students, and promising action. "It is very possible that we will call a town hall meeting concerning what has happened. The students may not enjoy it, the University may not enjoy it, but we want this to be open. In addition, we are looking into expelling or suspending students who pulled fire alarms, and helped to organize the events of Sunday night," said Provost Fernandes. "We asked BisonTV to allow us to watch their tape from Sunday night so that we could get a clearer picture of the situation, and who was involved," adds the Provost. However, BisonTV denied that request. "BisonTV is a neutral party. We do not support any sides. Our tapes are for reporting, not for investigation," said Ian Jones, BisonTV cameraman supervisor. It has also become clear that communication among top officials is a problem; the Provost, when asked by The Buff and Blue, was unaware of Saturday's attempt, as were
the CREs.

Students can expect changes to be made at Gallaudet University. What will happen to the students who were involved in the melee, and what will become of next year's football team remains to be seen.

Tidbits for 11.3.05

Royal Visit: Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla is on an official tour in this country for the first time since 1985. That is 20 years ago. However, it is interesting to note that every cities that they planned to visit, all cities are heavily populated with open-minded Liberals & Democrats: New York, Washington DC, New Orleans and San Francisco.

Fantastic Advertisement: I kept on getting this from many friends via the email. The last one came from Zachary, an incredible sweet, good-looking hearing guy who is also fluent in ASL from New York. In this video, the person as a bankteller used to be a student at Gallaudet for some numbers of years. Long story, but that guy is identical twin from Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is known that one is gay, one is not. But the truth is that both are, one is out of the closet, one is not. Get it?

As for the comments that some cannot understand the French words on the film, I once took French under Ms. Carole Frankel at Gallaudet and ... yes, Dr. Rachel Hartig. It was fun weathering the explosive antics of Ms. Frankel and lackadaisal dull of Dr. Hartig. It says:
"The world is harder when it's not conceived for you.
From now on, the EDF spaces are accessible for all."

Marriage Is A Form Of Slavery: Years ago, men purchased women from their fathers, they often had a ceremony, similar to today's wedding, that cements the trade of properties to the other. Which is why many feminists often shouted, "Sold! Sold!" at women who got married in churches.

Now, many frantic Xians, conservative pigs and lying Republicans are working hard to mislead the public that to drive the law to ban the same sex marriage is not to discriminate on gays, but to protect the idea of marriage between man and woman. C'mon, don't give me that shit.

It is not the ceremonial that gays are after for. It is about the benefits that comes with marriage that enabled between two persons as one. That means what? It is my right to obtain one if I want it whether if you like it or not.

Ex-Gays Are Not Real: Trust me, many clamored that they were "cured" of homosexuality. Each time, they claimed, I rolled my eyes. There are many persons out there that said they are now straight, but in reality, when nobody is looking, they ran off to a gay bar or an adult bookstore to solicit unsafe, anonymous sex before going home to their wives.

Hell, I see that many times in Union Station's bathroom next to Sbarro Restaurant -- you can see many Congressional aides finishing their day of work and strolling in that bathroom for as long as an hour! Does one has to pee for an hour? Use your common sense. When they are done cumming in someone's mouth, they hit the Metro to their homes and greeted their oblivious wives with a kiss and a hug.

And you wanted to protect that value?

SouthPark Nailed It Well: Last night, the new episode of SouthPark rocks! It talked about gay marriage. Apparently, what happened is that Mr. Garrison, the teacher at the school where Eric, Stan, Kyle and Kenny attended, had a lover named Mr. Slave. Mr. Garrison decided to undergo the sex-change operation and is now Mrs. Garrison. Mr. Slave does not want a female, he wanted a male. So Mr. Slave found his beau in Big Gay Al and is slated to be married under the same sex legislation bill which needs the Governor to sign on a Saturday. When Mrs. Garrison found out that Mr. Slave is going to marry Big Gay Al, Mrs. Garrison organized the drive to force the Governor to veto the same sex marriage bill to derail the marriage of Mr. Slave and Big Gay Al. Of course, drama ensued.

But of course, the ending has its happy ending -- we always win. Xians always lost. Har har! *snorts*

A Message from Mike Higgins, Gallaudet SBG President: There is an email circulating to the student body at Gallaudet regarding the fiasco surrounding the Homecoming Ball at Hyatt and the goalpost mob.

Subject: Letter from the Student Body Government President

Fellow Students of Gallaudet,

A few situations have taken place the past few weeks that have affected all of us here at Gallaudet University, either directly or indirectly. I, as the Student Body Government President, feel like I have a responsibility to speak to the community. What you will read here comes right from the heart. I believe that this kind of thing should be said face to face, but because we never have all our students in one place at once, I want to e-mail you all. I am deeply disappointed by the events of the past 10 days.

On Homecoming weekend, we had our Homecoming dance at the Hyatt. Homecoming is supposed to be something fun, and filled with tradition and pride at being a Gallaudet student. The Student Body Government Homecoming Committee put quite a bit of time into the planning of this event to make it a success for everyone involved. Then a group of students just decided that they didn't have to follow the rules of common courtesy. They either forgot or ignored the fact that there were other guests staying at the hotel. The average price for a room in the Hyatt is about $200 dollars a night. If you had paid that much, wouldn?t you want a relaxing stay and a good night's sleep?

I have absolutely no respect for those students who thought the world revolved around them that night. Because of those students, everyone else will have to pay the consequences. Is that fair to the rest of us? Not at all, but that?s how the world works. We were trusted to behave decently at an event off campus, and now we lost that trust. I don't know how we can earn that trust back, but I do know it will take time. Most of us are only Gallaudet students for four or five years, and that's just a short time in our lives. Why would we want to do something that limits the opportunities that we have during this time? The students who come after us will also suffer the consequences. A few students have made the rest of us here at Gallaudet, and also the Deaf community look bad. I hope these individuals understand this.

And then, only a week later, we have this other thing that happened at the football field. Yes, the football team went undefeated and yes, they deserved to celebrate their achievement. However, the way that they chose to do it was not appropriate at all. It doesn't matter that the athletic department had replacement goalposts ready, the thing that everyone is forgetting is how dangerous something like that is. A human life is a priceless thing, and those students involved forgot about that. As the Provost said, only two weeks ago, someone died doing the exact same thing.

I am sure the students at that school thought it would be fun and nothing would happen to anyone. Now, nobody got hurt here and we can consider ourselves lucky. However, what do you think would've happened if someone had been injured, paralyzed or, even worse, killed? We would have had to explain to parents what happened and seen friends grieving. Hardly a fair tradeoff for celebrating an undefeated season in my opinion.

Many of us have had challenges and experiences in life, and those lessons should prepare us for how to react to situations as they pop up. I ask each student here on Kendall Green to think twice before doing something that affects the well-being of not only themselves, but those of others. We need to work together to figure out how to ensure that these kind of situations don?t happen again. Ignoring the situation or getting upset about this solves nothing.

Over the next few days I will be contacting student leaders to ask for their support and ideas. I plead with you to take what we say seriously, because we only want what is best for Gallaudet and our students. Right now I am envisioning a town hall style meeting where everybody can gather and share their thoughts. The most important thing to come out of this is for us to develop a plan to restore trust and respect with our administration, with the Hyatt, and with others who may question the behavior of the Deaf community. I have always been proud of calling myself a Gallaudet student. The past week, I have not been. I want to change that. To do so, we need to work together.

Thanks,

Mike

Any opinion on this? I think it is just cheap words, it was mentioned that the Buff and Blue newspaper already had two articles on civility prior to the fiasco. Apathy rules as usual? All I can do is sit back and eat popcorns.

"I am a fashion god": Can you guess who said that line?

Cheers,
