Like Gallaudet Athletic Department? Credit goes to Mike Weinstock

In the last few weeks, Gallaudet Bison football team has garnered the attention all over the country about its undefeated season.

Needless to say, it is a good publicity for Gallaudet. Especially with Gallaudet Athletic Department. I know how much Mike Weinstock puts his energy and time in this.

When Richard Pelletier was the Athletic Director, I can tell that he is not the type of person who is willing to push for the changes that propel Gallaudet's Athletic Department to the next level. I recall having few conversations with him about the needs to change. He would say, "No money, ask IKJ." several times.

When James DeStefano took over as the Athletic Director, he said the same thing when Sandy Ewan, me, and many others would try to talk about doing things to improve all teams, weight rooms, training rooms, meeting rooms, locker rooms, sports information office, football field, track, baseball field, soccer field et al. Whenever I entered the Field House, I don't feel "collegiate gymnasium", I feel that we are in "high school gymnasium".

James said, "No money, ask IKJ." That drove me nuts. That really frustrated me and Sandy Ewan. The buck just stops with IKJ, they always said that. We would have a long conversation about what Gallaudet can be if there are someone who is willing to make changes in spite of budget restraints.

When they built a new indoor swimming pool, I remembered Sandy Ewan battling I. King Jordan about getting the pool to be on the Olympic standard so that during the summertime, we can rent the pool to hearing swim organizations. Sandy knew that by doing that, we would make some money. I. King Jordan refused. And today, the pool is not equivalent of Olympics standard. So not many organizations wanted to rent Gallaudet's pool, so we lost $$. That was the last straw for Sandy. Sandy ultimately turned against I. King Jordan. And so did I.

I remembered asking Sandy Ewan who would be the best candidate to change everything from scratch. Sandy said, "Mike Weinstock". He went on to explain that not many people liked him but you can't deny the hard facts, wherever he goes, his teams flourished. He always found a way for his program to survive & grow. I had an opportunity to work under Mike and it was just great experience. I can say one thing: Mike knew his stuff.

Prior to the Gallaudet 2006 Protests, I noticed something alarming on a website, There were some people talking about Catholic University of America (CUA) being frustrated with Gallaudet's failures to make the CAC competitive. There were fans & sports reporters at Catholic, Marymount & Mary Washington talking about kicking Gallaudet out and get some school in so that its conference can be legitimate to have 2 or 3 teams qualify for any postseason tournament. But with Gallaudet on the bottom of the conference year in and out, it does do nothing but to slow other schools' performances.

I warned some people about it back on my old blog that sooner or later, don't be surprised that the CAC will kick us out even with the fact that we are the founding member of the conference. That's how fed up they are with Gallaudet Athletic Department. Some people believed me, some did not. After the 2006 Protests, Dr. Davila came in and made a quick change - he booted James DeStefano out and put Mike Weinstock in.

But that was too late, Catholic University of America and Goucher College has announced that they will leave the CAC to another stronger conference, Landmark in 2007. Both schools cited Gallaudet as one of several factors that pulled the other schools down from making the CAC stronger. The CAC took the action on this by telling Gallaudet to get out.

Even we founded the conference, they wanted us out. They felt that Gallaudet did not make an effort to do something about our programs. So Gallaudet was dumped by CAC, just like that. Mike Weinstock had a lot of work to do and he did do it in a short time. He found the ECFC for Gallaudet football, and they eventually joined the NEAC for other sports.

Mike Weinstock did not waste his time in making things happen. He improved the Hall of Fame, locker rooms, meeting rooms, football field with new artificial turf, Hoy Field, coach changes et al. He came up with a new logo, a brand new website and so on. Each time I see him announcing something new for the Athletic Department, I go "YES YES YES!"

Again, Mike knew his stuff.

Now we have women's basketball team that went to NCAA Tournament recently. Our baseball team has improved tremendously after the hiring of Curtis Pride. Volleyball's team is always good at Gallaudet but in the last couple of years, we have advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Oh, yeah, swimming teams has improved dramatically in the last 5 years. And the best part is that when you enter Field House and/or Hotchkiss Football Field, you can feel it is collegiate level.

Mike knew that by doing the changes, this atmosphere will do nothing but to motivate its players to excel in academics & athletics.

This is why Gallaudet football team is now 9-0. Yes, the boys worked hard to reach this undefeated record. Kudos to all of them. But the bottom line is: Mike Weinstock is the guy that made everything happen. For that, he has my utmost respect. I just wish that Sandy Ewan was alive to see this as well.

Oh, please!

Editor's Note:  I was encouraged by people to post this up on a public blogsite regarding the lawsuit instigated by Angela McCaskill. So here it is.

* * *

As of now, I'm in bed and at the same time I'm reading the 39-page lawsuit by Angela McCaskill against Gallaudet, MJ Bienvenu & Kendra Smith.

In fact, this lawsuit claimed that after Angela told T. Alan Hurwitz about her meeting with MJ Bienvenu where MJ bluntly criticized Angela for signing the anti-gay petition for a referendum to put the same sex on state ballot in Maryland. I thought MJ did do the right thing by confronting her to give Angela a piece of MJ's mind.

As for Angela, she immediately acted like she was a victim. She claimed that MJ discriminated against her because of her religious beliefs, of her race, of her belief in traditional marriage, and of her sexual orientation.

Her sexual orientation? Angela claimed that MJ discriminated against her because she is straight.

Oh, please.

Angela immediately pulled the race card to decry MJ for catching her name on the petition and got humiliated. In other words, Angela claimed that if she was white, MJ would not confront her on this subject. But since she is African American, MJ went after her.

Oh, please.

Angela claimed that she signed the petition to put the same sex marriage on the state ballot is not because she is against the marriage equality. By putting her name on the petition, she felt that what she did will enable people to discuss and learn from each other openly.

Oh, please.

Angela claimed that when the news raced across the Kendall Green, MJ & Kendra effectively ruined her integrity & reputation on the campus. The reputation that she worked hard to maintain at Gallaudet for more than 20 years.

Oh, please.

Angela claimed that MJ & Kendra was the one who reported to Drago Renteria's and supplied her with information regarding Angela's signature on the petition.

Oh, please.

Angela claimed that the malice against her by MJ Bienvenu, Kendra Smith, bloggers & vloggers were designed to "embarrass, humiliate, torment and cause her to have a severe emotional distress." She claimed that after everything, she suffered depression, sleep deprivation, lack of concentration, loss of memory, irritability, loss of appetite, hypertension, anxiety, paranoia, fear, intimidation, grief, and severe hot flashes.

Oh, please.

Angela said that the University did not act to reprimand MJ for harassment. What? Just because she confronted her in person and criticized her only *once*, that constituted an act of harassment?

Oh, please.

Angela claimed that MJ & Kendra spreads with false, vicious and humiliating rumors about her being an anti-gay, crippled her ability to keep the trust with diversity at Gallaudet.

Oh, please.

Angela strongly believe that the petition to ban same sex marriage referendum was not anti-gay. She just wanted to see it on referendum so that people can debate about it to educate the public at large.

Oh, please.

Angela claimed that T. Alan Hurwitz has ordered to cut the funds on Angela's Office of Diversity & Inclusion by $53,000 (Or 32%) which ultimately made her office totally ineffective in carrying the tasks out to the community.

Oh, please.

Angela claimed that during the Faculty Senate, she was abused verbally, condescending, castigated by others which resulted in her being embarrassed, humiliated & lack of respect.

Oh, please.

I could go on and on and on for the next 20 pages. And I won't. I stopped at #17 of 39 pages because it was redundant thing to deal with. My respect for Angela is gone primarily because she won't acknowledge, own it up, man it up & recognize that the petition *is* anti-gay.

Instead, you get to see her being defiant as well as using the race card to shield herself and to turn the tables upon people who confronted her for signing the anti-gay petition. She immediately claimed that they were harassing or demeaning her just because she is Deaf Black Christian Woman. This brat is clever by using the race card to act as a victim when she is not like that.

The University reserved the right to demote or fire any employee for speaking out on things that may contradict their job position. I believe it was in several states where a professor was fired for contradicting her beliefs publicly. Some professors sued and went to the state supreme court. And these people who sued lost their cases. The Courts said that the University has the rights to remove anyone who might contradict the university's vision & mission.

And so far, Angela is playing as a victim of "racism" by acting like everyone was out to harm, ruin or destroy her, and so far, she won't admit that what she did with the petition was anti-gay and wrong thing to do.

To make things worse, T. Alan Hurwitz, the current President of Gallaudet, was two-faced to Angela & MJ. When Angela whimpered & ran to T. Alan Hurwitz after MJ criticized her. Alan told Angela that MJ is wrong to do that and that MJ is a bully. Then the next day, Hurwitz ordered Angela to be placed on administrative on leave indefinitely. Why did T. Alan Hurwitz playing two-faced to Angela - why didn't he stick to what he said? He's is a big-time attention whore. Alan *should* reprimand MJ for her outbursts and he should not flip-flop on things like that. That's where his credibility was blown away when he said negative things on MJ one day and Angela the other day. You just cannot do that, folks.

However - Angela, give it up. Your son is a faggot and yet, you signed the petition to put the marriage equality on referendum - that means what? You're discriminating your own gay son!! What kind of a mother are you? OH, don't preach that you're a Christian. Who gives a damn about the fairy tales which can be found in the so-called Holy Bible.

Yes, the petition was anti-gay. Stop lying and own it up, Angela. She thought that being Deaf African American Woman certainly made her qualified to run the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. But there is a problem, she is not even qualified at all. She reeks of hypocrisy, that s for sure.

Kappa Gamma Is Overrated

Many years ago, I was interviewed by Kappa Gamma thugs. I was instructed to sit on this particular chair where they would blindfold me. Then led me to an interview room. I wore an expensive suit. When they took the blindfold off from me, the first thing I saw was Brian Bippus & John Hencker on a table. I could feel the heat of the candle right next to my ears.

Apparently, they put the candles very close to my ears. After going through the bullshit, I was pulled out of the room. After they took the blindfold off from my head, the first thing I see was the candle waxes were all over my expensive suit.

I remember seeing Bob Dramin telling me, "Sorry about that. You have to go now." I remembered asking him, "Why did you guys do that on my suit?" I remembered him saying nothing.

That was a major turn-off. They had the audacity to put the candles near my ears. David, what was that for? Was that even necessary? I tried to have the suit cleaned at a local dry cleaning store and the stains were so bad that they told me that I'd have to toss it away and buy a new one. I was stunned. You see, that suit I wore was the first and last time I used. And the so-called Kappa Gamma fraternity ruined it all.

Even as of today, they still never paid me for the damages they did to my suit.

This is one of few things that I disliked about Kappa Gamma. I had many friends who are in that fraternity. It is hysterical. They often spoke shit against each other when they are away from each other. But whenever they got together, they act like they are best pals. It is comical. I was roommate with one, and it was comical. From that point on, I knew I will never submit myself to that mentality of theirs. Needless to say, I chose the other fraternity.

One thing I liked about my fraternity, Alpha Sigma Pi, is that whenever we get mad at each other - we say it up to each other right away. Say it *now* so that we can move on past this. We would have a massive argument right there on the spot, never mind if it is in private or in public, the important thing is to get it off from our chests. Which explained why I am at ease chatting with my brothers than I'll be with these so-called but fake brothers in Kappa Gamma.

For boys who joined the Kappa Gamma fraternity, they did it not because they wanted to experience the "fraternity" feeling, they knew that if they joined, they would have "privileges" to get around. Which is overrated if you ask me. I know because I saw their paperworks and all their secret shit.

Some of my good friends are in that fraternity. I must admit that it took some time for me to be accustomed with them - turns out that some of them are able to be themselves. Many do not. Keith Clark is a good example of what happened in the last few years. But whatever.

Anyway, I'll give you the link which you get to read what Scott Vollmar & Jesse Saunders created the PowerPoint for their pledges back in 2001-2002 when they were at Gallaudet.

Today, Scott Vollmar is the ASL Specialist at New Mexico School for the Deaf (NMSD) and Jesse Saunders is the Coordinator of Youth & Outreach Programs at Gallaudet University. How disturbing is that, really?

That link has 112 slides. As you can see, Vollmar & Saunders pretty much demeaned anyone outside of their fraternity. They also glorified the abuses. Whenever they held someone else in contempt, they would type in very *tiny* font. What kind of message is that, really?

They celebrated the abuses.
They made fun of pledges.
They demeaned women.
They trashed other fraternities.

And today, Vollmar & Saunders holds the positions that may make an impact on Deaf youths. How warped is that? It is mind-blowing thing, right? But to me, that is Kappa Gamma. They are full of contradictions to a point where I knew everything to them is not noble nor honest to start with. You'd have to roll your eyes and mutter to yourselves, "Here they go again."

In my fraternity, I never had to experience that kind of thing - I remember my pledge experience, it is all about us, my fraternity and everything within it. That's it. We don't worry ourselves about anyone else outside of my fraternity.

When I saw 112 slides, I must admit I wasn't surprised by its poisonous messages. It is something that I kinda expected from them. But you see, I know Jesse & Scott, they are nice when you talk to them in person. But the problem is: Whenever they get in that so-called fraternity, they changed into something that is not something to be proud of. So are they really good people you get to know on daily basis? You do not know. That is the part you'll always wonder for the rest of your life, "Is he nice to me? Or is he using me?"

It is no wonder that Alex Abenchuchan has notified Kappa Gamma that he wanted no part of this fraternity from now on. When I first met Alex, I thought he was great despite the fact that he's bit high-strung on Christian beliefs. But I was surprised that he joined Kappa Gamma. I guess by going through the whole thing, Alex realized that it was a mistake from the start. So recently, he cuts them out just like that.

I hate to say this: What Alex Abenchuchan did was very brave but he will be ostracized for that.

Food for your own thoughts: Look at ViableVRS fiasco, the majority of guys that got caught with their hands in a cookie jar? They are members of Kappa Gamma fraternity.

Figures, eh?

Gee Whiz, Kappa Gamma Ruined Keith Clark, That Is For Sure

For a long time, I consider Keith Clark a good friend. When he was going through the rough patches, I checked on him from time to time just to see if he's doing well. He did. He was fired at two different locations because of his improper actions in Anchorage and in DC. But I still was there for him as a friend when many abandoned him.

Often when we were at Gallaudet, we would go out and party. It was always fun to hang out with him.

Recently I was puzzled that he quietly unfriended me on Facebook. Needless to say, I was curious so I contacted him upfront on that.

For many years, Keith and I always had a good, honest & straight conversation ... until he joined the Kappa Gamma fraternity. I think the fraternity has ruined him as whole. Ever since joining the fraternity, I can see that Keith was not honest with me as he kept on making evasive & vague comments each time I tried to have an open conversation.

I knew that he had two brother & sister - both are erratic to start with. I'm not crazy about Paula Clark mainly because she does not regret what she did many years ago - she drove the SUV on Kendall Green and ran over a couple of students who were sleeping outside defending the rat funeral. Yes, someone got injured and all that, Paula was drunk. That was inexcusable. That was Keith Clark's younger sister.

And today, Paula is Mental Health Therapist at Deaf Community Services of San Diego. Imagine that. How crazy is that? I would not want her to be my therapist knowing that she never publicly apologized to the victims who were injured by her actions.

And today, I got a message from Keith Clark telling me why he had to unfriend me:

"Ricky... I had to unfriend you because your actions and words have negatively impacted so many people I know; friends, clients, co-workers, family and more. I cannot keep you on my friend list while also keeping relationship with them... I had to choose what I thought would be best for me at this time. Thanks for understanding."

Whoa, Keith had the audacity to say that to me? After what I did for him when he was fired at two locations (due to the inappropriate behavior, that is). Man, Kappa Gamma ruined a good person and made him think of himself before the rest.

Keith claimed that I impacted on his clients, co-workers, family and more? That is such a lie and he knew it. For that, I'm coming publicly to dish the dirt on his past. And Keith, guess what? This is what you get for siding with your fake friends whom was not there for you in 1st place.

Good riddance!

VLOG: May 17, 2013 Tidbits

This vlog covers:

*  Batman is worthless without his wealth
*  Comic Bubble Thoughts
*  FacundoElement shot its own foot
*  ASDB/PDSD protests
*  I have credibility and you do not have one!

I learned an important lesson tonight. Instead of slinging mud at each other, we should actually try listening to each other. I was on the verge of a Twitter war with a Republican over the Affordable Care Act, but instead of snapping on him, I stopped myself and asked if we could try to have a legitimate discussion about it. He agreed, and for the next hour, we proceeded to talk through our concerns and actually listen to each other.

It turns out that his anger came from a place of fear and uncertainty about how the Affordable Care Act will affect him and his family. Once we got to the root of it, I actually began to feel compassion for him, and I understood why he was angry. I was able to provide him with some research to ease some of his concerns, and he was able to challenge my ideas by pointing out things I hadn't considered before. In the end, we both learned something and we came to realize that our differences in perspective were mostly based on our different life experiences. We may not agree on how to handle policy, but we were able to acknowledge and respect each other's reasons for feeling the way we do.

The bottom line? We need to listen to each other and acknowledge one another's humanity. Next time you are about to lash out at a political opponent for what you believe to be an irrational idea, try stopping and asking them why they feel the way they do. You might just be surprised by what you learn.

VLOG: I Hate Batman!

This vlog is perhaps the longest one I ever had made. I tried my best to edit and shorten it - I could not successfully make it short without losing the important information that is crucial to the understanding of my favorite character since I was 10.

Her name is Amethyst, the rightful ruler of Gemworld and Magic.

Folks, I made this vlog that shall focus on movies, books & comic books. Enjoy! You may fastforward to the topics that might interest you. Here is the list of what I was talking about:

* My fleece blanket is fucking awesome!
* Don't judge a book by its cover
* All About Green Lantern
* All About The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit
* Did you see "The Descent"?
* Did you know?
* I need your help!

Good Going Air Force!

However, instead of retrieving the missiles with the dummy weights attached to them, the Air Force crew at Minot accidentally loaded on to the plane six cruise missiles that has live nuclear warheads on them. They loaded actual nuclear weapons on to a B-52 bomber and sent it to its way to Louisiana.

The pilots had no idea. Six nukes each with roughly the capacity to cause Hiroshima times 10 were taken on a cross-country flight. That bomber, I`m not kidding you was named Doom 99 and Doom 99 departed Minot on schedule and for the first time in 40 years, a nuclear armed bomber crossed U.S. air space without clearance.

Luckily, the warheads made their way to Louisiana without incident. And upon landing, they sat unguarded on the runway at Barksdale for nine hours. Until the ground crew there finally realized with a resounding OMG that they had accidentally acquired six live nuclear weapons they weren`t expecting and they had left them sitting around unguarded for nine hours.

For Marci

Dearest Marci-

You and your friends who which one you are!

Fuck You

Worse thing I hear all day: Pray for his son and family.

Come again!? Pray for the son and his family? And not Marci? Y'all need to toke a pill, have a come to Jesus moment and realize who needs the prayers just as equally: Marci.

Stop absorbing stupid. Stupid is enough.

No Van? No Car? No DL? No Problem!

Johnny Adamson, who was arrested in Frederick for some fraud warrants from Pennsylvania has finally bonded himself out of jail.

He also lost his van as it was towed on the day he was arrested. FYI, he does not have driver's license because he is suspended. This dude managed to annoy me and others repeatedly in this town. I have no desire to deal with him whatsoever but he went after me because I'm friends with Dawn Schriver. He also fabricated on Twitter claiming that I delivered the pizzas to his home which made him lose his appetite. None of this is true at all. In fact, I never delivered anything to his home.

But as soon as he got arrested, his address was available for the world to see online so I knew where he lives as of now. Why do I do that? So that I can remind myself not to deliver anything to the specific address should they decide to order something. I mean, I don't like to deliver food or things to people who lied about me in 1st place, right?

However, many people in Frederick told me about how dysfunctional the Adamsons are because of this dude.

Did you know that in Frederick, there are a neighborhood that contains many Deaf families living there? I heard it is 56 families or so. That neighborhood is called Spring Ridge. The Adamsons are one of 56 or more families that lived in Spring Ridge subdivision. From what I observed, you need to have cars to get yourself moving around in that neighborhood.

But since Johnny lost his van, car, driver's license and so on - guess what he is trying to do in Spring Ridge?

Yep, that.

Two RRs Down, Who's Next?

Well, well, well. A friend of mine told me that she noticed Deaf people whose has their initials as R.R., they passed away this year.

First one was Richard Roehm, the notorious so-called deaf leader in Orange County who basically terrorized wherever Deaf people convened, especially on the internet.  He died of a massive heart attack last February at the age of 50.

Few months later, Reginald Redding died of a terminal illness related to his brain. There was a tumor that was removed from his brain but he was never the same afterwards.

Who's next?

If you noticed that both RRs are not generally well-liked individuals in our community.

I jokingly told a friend that up next could be Rob Rice, the owner of BayFirst Solutions, LLC. I do not have a death wish. But I'm just playing the rules - the initials has to be RRs. So the first thing that comes on my mind was this dude. It is true that I can't stand him, I'm sure he can't stand me as well. He thinks he's all that - he made me cringe whenever he attempts to "outsmart" people when he just made a fool of himself.

Who is your guess?

What about Ron Rood?

BREAKING NEWS: Dr. Redding Dead

Today, I was bombarded with rumors that Dr. Reginald Redding has died yesterday of a terminal illness. It was reportedly that after suffering a fall at the jail, he was hospitalized and the doctors found out that he had a terminal illness, something to do with his brain.
Dr. Redding was supposed to be a role model for Deaf African-Americans across the nation but he had a dark secret that plagued his career. He tends to be violent towards women.

Dr. Redding was frequently replaced, forced to resign and/or fired from his jobs as top administrator at Gallaudet, NTID and few Deaf schools including Rhode Island & Eastern North Carolina.

He was one of 3 finalists for California School for the Deaf before I made a vlog raising the ruckus in Bay Area to a point where the California Department of Education discretely removed him from the list. Eventually, Sean Virnig became the Superintendent of California School for the Deaf in Fremont.

He was arrested after flying in from North Carolina and attacked his ex-girlfriend in Bay Area few months ago. It is not the first time that he was reportedly arrested for domestic violence. This happened in North Carolina as well as others.

Double Jeers to DC Comics

Yesterday was May 4, 2013. It means what? It falls on the first Saturday of the month. The first Saturday of May is "Free Comic Book Day" or aka #FCBD on Twitter. Hundreds of comic shops across the United States, Canada, England, Indonesia, Germany, Ireland, Turkey and Australia hosted this event. It is designed to encourage children to read, read and read. Smart strategy if you ask me.

However, in my area (Frederick, Maryland), there is a comic shop, Beyond Comics, who has invested a lot in this event. The shop always invited artists, writers & editors to mingle with its shoppers at its two stores (Frederick and Gaithersburg) which is nice but most of them are not well known nor affiliated with big-time companies like DC Comics or Marvel Comics. This year, they brought DC Comics' Gene Ha. He pencilled & wrote several series such as Action Comics, Green Lantern's Christmas Special, Phantom Stranger, Batman to name few.

I seized this opportunity to meet Gene Ha in person to express my disappointment and frustration with DC Comics' treatment of my favorite character since I was 8 - Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld. In the last 30 years, DC Comics has neglected or messed this character up one too many times.

In her Maxi-Series, regular series & Mini-Series, it was revealed that Amethyst was the most powerful creature in the universe mainly because she possessed her birthright powers as well as her Witchmother's powers. In addition, it was mentioned that she is the first human being to be the Lord of Order, an omnipotent beings who defended worlds against the Lords of Chaos for millions of years.

Not only that, DC Comics tied Amethyst with Mordru, the mad-arch sorcerer who antagonized the 30th Century's Legion of Super-Heroes. Which eventually indicated that the dormant powers of Amethyst would fall on LSH's White Witch. It sounded so simple, right? You see, Amethyst buried Mordru alive which he was entombed for 1,000 years before being freed in 30th Century.

The timeline seems to be perfect as of far, is it? But it is not. Apparently, Mordru showed up in Justice Society of America (JSA) and waged attacks against Doctor Fate and JSA repeatedly. It was revealed that Mordru possessed Arion's body and imprisoned Arion's soul. It was mentioned that Mordru has no beginning or ending. To throw this off the course, DC Comics had this bizarre crossover called Weirdoverse where it was revealed that the leader of the villainy Conclave is none other than Amethyst!

Then Arion showed up in Day of Vengeance. So did Amethyst next to Arion! It was also mentioned that Mordru and Amethyst are the only Lords of Chaos and Order that survived the wrath of The Spectre which ended the 9th Age of Magic. But Arion is a Lord of Order, too. Or is he?

Then came Flashpoint which disrupted all timelines and rebooted everyone else in particular including Mordru and Amethyst. During the Flashpoint, Amethyst was murdered. After the Flashpoint, Mordru was thrown in the past where he is now an ordinary mage against Merlin in Demon Knights. Mordru's bones were mentioned in Justice League Dark which Amethyst also made an appearance. Amethyst's past background was rebooted. The characters on Gemworld has been changed as well.

After a long hiatus for more than 25 years, Amethyst finally has her own series in Sword of Sorcery: Amethyst. But the price format for the series are too expensive ($3.99!). DC Comics, for many years, has complained that the majority of readership are males. They need to court the female readers. Amethyst is a good opportunity to win female readers but $3.99 drove them away. They brought the talented writer in Christy Marx and talented artist in Aaron Lopresti which basically started the story with a clean slate. This pissed many old readers who loved Amethyst but I was willing to give them a chance. I was intrigued when Amethyst sparred with John Constantine and later, John Constantine kicked Eclipso to his birth world - Gemworld. It turns out that Eclipso was the heir to the Houses of Onyx & Diamond who was banished from Gemworld after trying to enslave its population.

But DC Comics does not care about that. It wanted profits. It wanted to maximize the profits - so after only 8 issues, Sword of Sorcery: Amethyst has been cancelled. They said that it was because of low sales. Of course, it is!  $3.99! Green Lantern and Superman series are $2.99, not $3.99! Idiots!! With only 8 issues, it was not enough to build its own fan base. It was only starting to do that after 30 years of neglect & abuses on her character. Christy Marx did not have a chance to excel after 8 issues. It was a miscarriage of justice, really.

God, I hate Batman. I mean, with the powers of Amethyst, she'd blink and Batman would disappear as if he never existed. That is the beauty of her magical powers. What have you, Batman? Nothing.

Which is why I confronted Gene Ha and expressed my disappointment with DC Comics. It does not matter that he did not work on Amethyst, he worked for DC Comics, he has the power to pass it around from the readers to the publishers of DC Comics. They cancelled the Amethyst series in order to create another new series that will focus on either Batman or Superman. Yes, DC Comics has more than 7 series each for Batman & Superman. And Amethyst only has *one* and yet, it gets cancelled.

What a fucking travesty.

Chris Palaia

For God's fucking sake, Chris! Enough of your charade and just come out of the fucking closet already!  Everyone and their gerbil knows you are flaming gay. In this day and age, it's a tad bit ridiculous to stay in the closet. You're cramping my Jimmy Choos, so just come out of the closet dude!

Forgot! March Abuser of the Month

Gotta lighten up on the valium and martini mix! I know this is a bit late but here's the March Abuser of the Month!

Wanna-be In Line Skater Michael Hubbs.

Was arrested for violating parole by making harassing phone calls to his victim. Was arrested at the Utah skating rink in front of his team mates. That had to seriously burn. Known to physically, mentally and emotionally abuse his female partners, including his ex-wife.

People, Get This Through Your Skull

I Love David Spade

Reese Witherspoon learned the hard way -- if you have to tell someone, "Do you know who I am?" ...  you're NOT as famous as you think you are, this according to David Spade

Spade was leaving Boa Steakhouse in Hollywood last night when we asked if there's ever a good time for a star to drop the "I'm a really big deal" schtick ( a la Reese) ... and the "Rules of Engagement" star gave it to us straight.

"If you have to explain to someone you're famous, then you're technically not that famous."

Touche David, touche!!

Extreme Low Blow to Giffords!

As the debate over new measures to prevent gun violence reached its apex, Republican lawmakers and conservative activists became surprisingly hostile towards the family members of those slain in the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary. If there's one group of people who would appear to be off-limits when it comes to political pushback, one might think it'd be Newtown families, but apparently not.

What's next, cheap shots at Gabrielle Giffords? Actually, yes.

The day after a Republican filibuster killed expanded background checks in the Senate, the former congresswoman had a scathing op-ed in the New York Times, condemning opponents' cowardice. It led one Republican pundit to take a very low road.

Wall Street Journal  columnist James Taranto questioned the authenticity of a New York Times op-ed authored by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords by claiming that the op-ed appeared online too quickly to have been written by someone "who has severe impairments of her motor and speech functions."

Taranto's comments occurred on the April 19 edition of the National Rifle Association's news show, Cam & Company, where he said it was "odd" that the Times ¬op-ed, which Taranto described as "Giffords' personal reaction as somebody who's been wounded by gun violence," was published approximately five hours after the Senate voted on background checks. Taranto cast doubt on the idea that Giffords had authored the piece, commenting, "So we are supposed to believe that somehow in less than five hours a woman who has severe impairments of her motor and speech functions was able to produce 900 publishable words and put in an appearance in the White House in the course of it."

First, it's worth noting that the outcome of the Senate vote was clear the day before the Toomey/Manchin measure was defeated by a Republican filibuster. Giffords didn't have "less than five hours"; she had a full day.

Second, I suppose it's possible that someone gave Giffords a hand literally, physically typing her thoughts, but I'd remind the right that the former congresswoman was shot in the head during an attempted assassination. As a rule, decent people everywhere realize that when something like this happens, we cut folks a little slack, instead of taking wildly unnecessary cheap shots at their "severe impairments."

Is a little class too much to ask?

Perhaps it is. A conservative blogger at PJ Media added this tweet about Giffords yesterday afternoon.
