Want Some $$?

For your information, this is my 252nd entry. And 70,954 words had been typed since then. 100,000 -- here I come! Fuck, I can write a book. But will I make a profit? I dunno. I don't want my books to be printed and sit in Gallaudet Bookstore. That would be disgraceful and pitiful.

Want some money? Char and I talked about the hotels in Las Vegas. I quickly mentioned about the money -- she interrupted that she is already aware about this since I told her about it few years ago. Since then, she has been doing this after learning about it from me. I figured it's fair to share this with my loyal readers. *smirk*

My mother taught me this -- when we arrived at any hotel (be it an inn, motel or luxury one), my mom would look for the Holy Bible and take it out of some drawer then check the pages -- pull the bible in the air to let something out of the book.

Often, $5 or $10 will fall out. My mom always smiled and said that many elders would leave money to see if anyone will read the bible, if they do -- they give money to anyone who takes the time to *read* the book. When I was a wee child, she worked at the motel in Spotsylvania. Will she go to hell for this? Oh, well.

I followed her actions when I travelled around the country -- I found $50 in Atlanta, $10 in Myrtle Beach, and many assortments of $5 and $1 in different places. One thing about this -- I noticed that more people in The South and Northwest do put money in The Bible.

So maybe you can try your luck somewhere in some hotels/inns/motels.

What's Wrong with Blogger.com?

It is becoming difficult to publish an entry nor the access to someone's blog. I had to press several times in order to get to someone's blog to read.

Even if I like the format of blogger.com but the services need to improve or upgrade somehow.

It is becoming aggravating, really.

Fire Island IV: What is Cherry Grove?

Cherry Grove is on the western edge of Fire Island, it is still gaytown. But a level below The Pines. The Pines are for rich guys, Cherry Grove is for middle-class guys, where there are things to do.

Unlike The Pines, Cherry Grove lacked swimming pools in their homes. Wanna swim? Go to beach.

Mark and I dined in the Burger Queen. Very good. Saw some familiar faces from NYC. Cherry Grove probably have more bars than The Pines. Cherry Grove is more of "beach resort" than The Pines.

All night long, we mingled around the community and went to the beach to rest a little. At the oceanfront, I saw a gay couple making out in very delicate manner that I would question if it is appropriate place to do it. But the beach cops parked not far from this couple, they did not do anything.

When the sun sets down, we waited for the fireworks to bang off. Sorace exaggerated a little -- the fireworks took place in Long Island. So we can see these tiny fireworks at different places at the same time from Fire Island.

It was extremely boring and discouraging (yes, it was beautiful), so Mark and I said to Cherry Grove: SYL! Off onto the ferry back to New York City.

All in all, my first experience for Fire Island is very positive. If I am rich, I want a house in The Pines. It is irresistible not to own one.

Fire Island III: The Terrors of Meatracks

It was time to go to Cherry Grove, Sorace told the partygoers to mingle and see what it was hopping around. If one wants to go to Cherry Grove from The Pines, one can have three options.

1. Use watertaxi boat for $5
2. Walk on the beach
3. Go through the Meatracks

Mark and I selected #3 out of curiosity. Some selected #1 and most selected #2.

The wood-made sidewalk that led from The Pines to Cherry Grove simply dissipated into the sandy walkway when we exited The Pines into Meatracks.

Then there are lots of trails into the forests, Mark and I went in to check these infamous trails. Suffice to say, the folklores that I heard are simply true. Lots of men, mostly twinks and men who are 50s but act like 30s, looking for anonymous sex. The ironic thing about the Meatracks is that these gay men are environmental-conscious types mainly because they tied the plastic bags on the branches so when people are done with condoms, they toss it in the bags.

I walk around and snicker repeatedly. I thought it was so hilarious.

This is the undeveloped area where people fought to keep it as it is for years (they probably used the environment as a platform), but actually it is a playground for anonymous sex without any cops interrupting.

Soon, Mark and I struggled to walk normal in these sandy sidewalk and soon I saw the civilized town looming closer and closer. The woodway sidewalk was resumed as I exited the Meatracks.

WNBA's Timeout

Aside from my rampages in the Fire Island, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge MIchele Van Gorp for being casual about herself in a professional league.

I personally dislike her because she played at Duke, a rival of Virginia Cavaliers whom I favored since I was a kid. As of lately, Duke has been somewhat dominant figure in the ACC. Dookies certainly pissed me off when they stole the win from us by a controversial foul that resulted in a 60-59 win for Duke two years ago. I'm happy that Van Gorp is being casual, but she is still a Dookie to me first of all.

Anyway, I just hope that Mike Piazza will follow her example and be casual about it. Besides, who says "I am not homosexual"? If I was straight guy, I would say that I am not gay, instead of using "homosexual". Something is wrong with this picture...

Fire Island II: The Pines

Upon arriving in The Pines, lots of people waved when the boats docked. I was VEE-VEE at the warmth atmosphere surrounding the island. One immediate thing that surprised me the most is that Fire Island is not a beach town. It is not like Rehoboth Beach.

In fact, what they have in Fire Island made Rehoboth Beach look bad. IN fact, Fire Island is in its own level away from Key West and Rehoboth Beach, Mark said. Mark said, "I never have been to a place that is overwhelmingly gay or gay-oriented."

The beach is in the back facing the ocean. The Pines is situated in the front facing Long Island. It has bars, stores, restaurants with the maze of wood-made for walkways around the houses.

I was jolted by a friend of mine whom I knew in Manhattan -- the same guy that Merritt and Manny met at GLBT Center -- Manny & Merritt, remmy the Leech comments? Y-E-S -- the same guy!

That guy greeted me and I chatted a little before Web hijacked me to head out to Sorace's place. My friends and I strolled to a house on a wood-sidewalk throughout the forest-lushy neighborhood with magnificent homes.

By God, The Pines are reserved for these people who has money to spend. I kept on looking at people, they are simply friendly. I also saw four deers mingling around the island all day long.

Had a good time at Sorace's place, swam, partied and chatted.

Roberts fell in the pool by accident and too bad, she saved her drink but not her pager. I saw the whole thing. It was tragic and funny.

Bruce, Jimmy and others were gracious hosts of the party. Thank you, guys!!

Later, we went to the Harbor to check out the annual "Invasion of The Pines". The ferry boat is full of drag queens as the boat docked at The Pines, lots of people drinking and having good times. I was not impressed. It could be better. Anyway, we went back to Sorace's Place for a while. It was fun hanging out with Mark and make fun of others.

Fire Island I: The Transportation

As the sun arose over the skyscrapers of Manhattan and into my apartment, I rolled off the bed. Cynthia smiled and said, "We have to get ready! But we are so fucked up!" I nodded and laughed. Showertime. We parted as she hopped in a truck with her friends en route to Sayville. I went to the subway to get to Penn Station to meet BJ, LJ, Web, Katie, Patrice and few others.

$12 for a Long Island Railroad (LIRR) round-trip to Sayville in Long Island. $3 for a van trip to the Ferry from the Sayville LIRR Station. $8 for the round-trip to Fire Island by Ferry service. So in total, $26 for the whole trip itself. It is like going to Six Flags just to get in the park!

On the train, I noticed that there are hundreds of gay men heading out to Fire Island. They are mostly twinks, pretty bois and muscular men.

Did you know that on my right foot, I can force my toes to say "Fuck you"? Well, it sounds lame, but I can. And I shared the secret with my friends on the train.

Fire Island is about a mile outside of Long Island. BJ explained that we were going to The Pines, the site of "Invasion" which occurs on 4th of July. He explained that some years ago, the Pines does not welcome drag queens. So some drag queens decided to invade in the area, forcing The Pines to accept them at all costs. Thus marked the annuall "invasion" of The Pines.

On Fire Island, The Pines is on the eastern edge of the island with Cherry Grove on its western edge. Meatracks is situated between these two communities. It is interesting to note that no papers talked about Meatracks but everyone talked about it informally.

When I arrived at The Pines, I was bewildered at the numbers of gay men. It appeared that we might need a gay passport to enter a gay nation. Fire Island is a gay nation unto itself.

More about The Pines in Fire Island II.
